Jim was born on August 7, 1928 in Dalton, NE to Michael and Mary "Lena" (Alber) Troidl. He
graduated from Gurley High School in 1946. After high school he worked at the gas station in Gurley, NE.
He was engaged in trucking most of his life, starting with hauling grain. He worked as a safety coordinator for the Egging Company for many years. Then he went back to trucking, working for Ruan Transport and Wynne Transport. Jim began farming full-time in the late 80's early 90's, working from sun up to sun down.
On November 17, 1952 Jim married Peggy Munshaw, they just celebrated their 72nd year of marriage together in November. To this union 5 children were born, James Jr., Patricia, John, Paula and Pamela.
He was a proud Husker fan, rarely missing a football, volleyball or softball game. Whether it was cheering from the tractor, working in the shop or from his favorite chair at home, he loved watching the Huskers play and sharing that passion with family. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and took great pride in the local weekend trap shoot competitions (bringing home the "bacon"). One of his greatest joys was sharing harvest with his grandchildren. Each year, he made sure they had a chance to ride along in the combine, passing down not just the work, but the wonder of farm life. Family was very important and valuable to him.
Jim was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dalton Volunteer Fire Department for 50+
years, Dalton Lions Club, a Board Member of the Dalton Rural Fire District #2 for 40 years, Knights of Columbus and the Dalton Cemetery Board.
