James Vance Obituary

His surviving family includes his half sister, Jennifer Vance; father, Jonathan (Pete) Vance; and mother Ann Vance. James was a man with a big personality, a huge heart, and an incredible talent and love for writing, teaching, bowling, and sniffing out the best beers in the country.
A bartender through and through, he loved diving deep into conversations with everyone he met. He loved to debate, and he could find the humor in any situation, bringing light to any dark moment. He was a lifelong animal lover, caring for his surviving great dane, Tuesday; and remembering his beloved mutt, Rogue until his very last day. He loved hard, and whether you were in his present or past, you were in his heart.
James' ashes will be spread at Belle Isle in Richmond, Virginia where friends and family are welcome to gather at a date to be determined soon.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Richmond SPCA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.simpsonfuneral.com
