James Vespermann

July 4, 1957 - January 26, 2025

James "Jim" Vespermann, 67, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at UnityPoint Rock Island, after a brief illness. Memorial services will be 3:30PM, January 11, 2025 at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be from 2:00PM until service time at the funeral home.

There will be a Celebration of Life following the service at the Eagles Club in Carbon Cliff.

Jim was born July 4, 1957, in Chicago, IL, the son of Lloyd and Marie Limbert Vespermann. He married Brenda Thomas. He later married Vicki (Van Daele) Carty June 20, 2018, in Jamaica. Jim worked as a meat cutter in the Quad City area, retiring in 2022, from Hy-Vee.

Jim was a fun-loving man well known and recognized to many in the community as the "Meat Man", stemming from his years of work in the meat business. Though, to us he will always be our Papa Jim.

Jim loved the outdoors. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including walks, fishing, camper camping, going for car rides, and spending time at "The Property" as he called it. He was an avid weather watcher and had a great passion for grilling out. When the weather didn't permit, he relaxed watching the Chicago Bears and his favorite western collection.

Jim enjoyed traveling to various beach destinations with his wife Vicki and their many friends. He loved spending time with family in all ways from vacationing, swimming, golf cart riding, concerts, front-porch sitting, hanging at the Wheelan's and attending the kids many sports events and school functions.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Carty, Moline; children, Jessica Vespermann, OR, Brandon Vespermann, UT, Emilee Carlson, Davenport, IA; stepchildren, Ron Carty, Moline, and Brooke (Christopher Wheelan) Carty-Wheelan, Port Byron, IL; grandchildren, Desiree Reiland, Kali Reiland, Connor Vespermann, Craig Carty, Caitlyn Carty, Nevaeh Wheelan, and Reece Wheelan; and his sister, Dawn Crouse (Lonnie Cantrell) Silvis, IL. Her children Breesa (Adam) Hansen, FL, Tyler (Jami) Crouse. Silvis, IL.

He was preceded by his parents; stepmother, Corrine Vespermann; and son, Justin Vespermann.
