James Roscoe Waid, 90, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at The Pinnacle in Greenville.

James was born January 15, 1935, in Oakman, Alabama, to Roscoe Waid and Jimmie Ruth Blalack Waid. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army and honorably served for 20 years before his retirement. After retiring from the Army, James worked for the Civil Service, where he trained people in what he did in the Army. He worked in intelligence and was stationed worldwide during his 40 years of service. James was very patriotic and loved his country. Aside from work, he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and bass fishing.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Toshiko Watanabi Waid, and his sister, Martha Walker.

He is survived by one brother, Bob Waid of Booneville, Arkansas, and two sisters, Libby Steelman (Joe) of Leland and Brenda Wassman of Long Beach.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
