James Corley “Jim” Walker, (Jim Jim to his Grandkids and many others) 78, of Dacula, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025. Born August 1, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, Jim was the beloved son of the late Perrin Walker and Inez Corley Walker.
A proud graduate of Central Gwinnett High School, Class of 1965, Jim went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army as a member of the 272nd Military Police Company, “The Fighting Deuce,” during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969.
Jim lived a life rooted in service—to his family, his faith, his community, and his fellow veterans. He was a longtime member of the Gwinnett Historical Society and a dedicated participant in Bible Study at the 1818 Club. He also served as a past board member of the Hi Hope Service Center and was a strong supporter of Across the Bridge in Lawrenceville, an organization close to his heart.
A man of many interests, Jim loved fishing, hunting, golfing, boating on Lake Hartwell, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family. He especially treasured cheering on his grandchildren at all of their sporting events. His passion for his community extended into his work—he proudly developed the first golf course in Lawrenceville and dedicated countless hours helping fellow veterans receive their disability benefits.
Jim was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville. He dedicated his career to real estate and development and was honored to be a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Perrin and Inez Walker. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois Walker; daughter and son-in-law, Ali Walker Hamman (Kyle); son, Austin Walker; cherished grandchildren, Zoie and Brody Hamman; and sisters, Janice Sawyer, Debra Payne, and Teresa Fleming and their families.
