James Wallerstein Obituary

Published by Bliley's Funeral Home - Staples Mill on Feb. 27, 2011.
WALLERSTEIN, James M. "Jimmy," 63, was received into heaven February 25, 2011. Mr. Wallerstein was born March 28, 1947 in Richmond, Va., son of Ben and Diane Wallerstein. Mr. Wallerstein was a parishioner at Saint Benedict Catholic Church. James volunteered serving the homeless with Caritas and in a mission to trip to Arizona. He was an avid dog lover and enjoyed long walks with his black lab, Ben. James was a one-of-a-kind, sweet and energetic man who loved life and had a unique sense of humor. He loved to dance, even in the infusion room, and was full of hope and optimism. He had a real faith in Jesus Christ and loved going to holy mass at Saint Benedict and adoration at the Abbey. Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Pamela Michelle Wallerstein; his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Irving Miller; nephews, David and Scott Miller; his longtime companion, Carolyn Wallerstein; his friends, Gwen Crawford, Ruben and Tim; and his devoted dog, Ben. The family will receive friends 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bliley's - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where a Christian wake will be held 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Benedict Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richmond SPCA. "I am in the palm of God's hand."

I surely will miss Jimmy his smiles, and his sense of humor. I was so glad that I did get a chance to see him a week before he went home to be with our Lord. Pam he really was proud of you and he talked a lot about you to me. We in our family will continue to lift you and your family in our prayers. Continue to turn your eyes upon Jesus.

Dear Pam:
I was so saddened to hear about your Dad. I remember the first day of his treatment! He energized the room. He was so proud of you and lucky to have someone so loving by his side during this journey.
Keeping you close to my heart and in my prayers-

I am saddened by the loss of my cousin, Jimmy but so happy that I was able to speak to him last week. I remember our visits to Richmond as children and will always cherish him for his sweet disposition and wonderful laugh. Thankfully he is no longer suffering and he lives on in his daughter Pam and our memories. Love to the family. Cousin Martha Cohn
