James A. "Jim" Walsh passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 62, with his beloved wife of 35 years, Kathy (née Georgopoulos) Walsh, by his side. Jim was a wonderful husband, brother, and friend. He is known for his passion for music (particularly The Beatles), interest in cars, love of dogs (especially Charlie), and golf at Cog Hill and Heathlands during treasured trips to Onekama. Jim was especially known for his kindness to all.
Cherished son of the late Jack and the late Jacqué Walsh; loving brother of the late Jack, Joan Walsh (Gerard Purcell), David Walsh (Cathy Conrad), Philip Walsh, Carol (the late Jim) Rosentreter, Barry Walsh, Peter (Lisa) Walsh, & Elizabeth (Braden) Slezak; dear brother-in-law of Niki (Haris) Spartiatis & Nicholas (Jennifer) Georgopoulos; fond uncle, Godfather, and cousin to many who will miss him dearly.
Born and raised in Western Springs, Jim attended St. John of the Cross, Lyons Township HS, and graduated from The University of Illinois, Chicago. He and Kathy have called Western Springs their home for over 25 years. Jim had worked in sales, yet most of his career was at Merrill Lynch in wealth management where he was warmly regarded by coworkers and trusted and respected by his clients. Jim's warmth, wit and sense of humor brought a smile into every room he entered. His deep sense of caring and generosity toward others were an inspiration to everyone around him. For the past 14 years, Jim was a grateful member of A.A. Sponsoring several fellows in recovery and creating wonderful friendships.
There will be a visitation 4 to 8pm on Tuesday, July 29th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside.
Family & friends will meet directly at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd., Western Springs on Wednesday, July 30th for 11am Mass. Interment private. Those unable to attend Mass can watch via livestream at https://www.facebook.com/sjcwesternsprings
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's name to St. Thomas Hospice or Hinsdale Humane Society (https://www.hinsdalehumanesociety.org/) are dearly appreciated.
