James M. Walter, 77, of Williamsport, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Jim was born in Williamsport on April 5, 1948, the son of Lester M. Walter and Rosella Mae (Cleveland) Walter.

Jim spent part of his early years living in Canada, where he excelled at ice skating. This is also where he became a lover of the outdoors; hunting & fishing. He had a passion for fishing. Often, you could find him on a small stream or pond. He traveled to Alaska and Maine to experience fly fishing in the remote parts of the country. He also enjoyed his salmon fishing trips to Lake Ontario with family and friends. Jim enjoyed life; he had a passion for cars, whether it was flipping them, restoring or collecting them, he just enjoyed the car culture. But his talents were many, an excellent cook, he was known for his smoked roast beef and smoked salmon. He loved his family and his dogs, the last being his dog, Guinness

He had been a co-owner of the Bear A. Bar & Grille in Blossburg and president of James M Walter Inc., Janitorial, then Janitor's Closet, where he was always willing to take on the more challenging work.

Surviving are his children and their families; Shawn (Kim) Walter, Erik (Kathryn) Walter, Aaron (Linley) Walter, and Heidi Walter; grandchildren, Bradley, Emily, Brandon, Andrew, Lyla, Anneliese, Sophie, and Cameron; Siblings, Jerry Walter of North Carolina, Peggy Miller and Joseph Walter both of Missouri, John Walter, Ruth Zellers, and Becky Reardon all three of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, his wife of 52 years, Cheryl-Ann (Wheeler) Walter, infant daughter, Amber Rose Walter and siblings; Carl, Charles, Samuel Walter, Rose Welsch, and infant sister Mary Walter all preceded him in death.

Burial at Gray Cemetery in Covington, PA will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to a local pet rescue center of your choice or the American Heart Foundation.
