James F. Warren, affectionately known to many as Jim, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Greenville, NC. Born on June 28, 1952, in Martin Co., Jim's life was marked by his intelligence, humor, and the love he had for his family and friends. Jim's early years were spent in the nurturing care of his late parents, Mary Francis Stalls Warren and Jimmy Warren. His formative education led him to Duke University, where his passion for computer technology flourished. Jim finished his studies at Atlantic Christian College, honing skills that would serve him well in his future endeavors.

Professionally, Jim was a respected figure in the field of computer technology. His innate understanding of mathematics and computing led him to establish a successful computer build and repair business.

Beyond his professional life, Jim was a devoted father to his sons, Matthew and Gregory Warren (Leslie Warren) and his 4 grandchildren (Asher, Isaac, Malachi, and Josie). His former wife, Marian Warren, remained a cherished friend and ally throughout his life. Jim's extended family was a source of great joy, including his cousins Robert Bates (Judy Bates), Ida Griffin (Ray Griffin), June Barnhart (Bob Barnhart), and Whit Leffel (John Leffel), and Rose Bates. His cousin Richard Bates predeceased him.

Jim's interests and passions painted a picture of a man who embraced life with enthusiasm. He was an ardent fan of Duke basketball, and his love for the game often shone through as he watched the Blue Devils play. Golf was more than a hobby for Jim-it was a way to bond with his sons, creating lasting memories on the greens. As a grandfather, he took immense pleasure in attending his grandchildren's baseball and soccer games, always their biggest cheerleader.

Jim's companionship with animals showcased his loving nature. His dog, Dixie, and his cat, Butter, were his loyal companions, bringing him joy and laughter even on the quietest of days.

Those who knew Jim will remember him for his quick wit and the laughter he brought into a room. His intelligence illuminated conversations, and his loving nature made him a friend to all. Jim's legacy is one of kindness, dedication to his loved ones, and a life lived with genuine warmth.

As we bid farewell to Jim, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit and laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable presence.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4th, 2025 at 2pm at Farmington Heights Church in Wilson, NC.

I met Jim "Bear" Warren, as he was affectionately known, when I joined Delta Sigma Phi fraternity at Atlantic Christian College. Bear was like the patriarch of the fraternity when I was there. He had the best and largest room and was very protective of it! He was a good friend and loyal Duke fan!! RIP Brother Warren
