James T. Warrener III, a retired U.S. Army Veteran and Warwick Firefighter, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was 64 years of age. Jimmy was the beloved husband and best friend of Rosemary E. (Rodway) Warrener to whom he shared 39 years of marriage. Born in Providence, he was one of four sons born to James T. Warrener Jr. and Audrey A. (Halliday) Warrener.
Jimmy proudly served his country as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army and upon his discharge served the City of Warwick as a Firefighter for 25 years until his retirement in 2011. He was also a Master Electrician and was always willing to offer his electrical services particularly to Veterans in the area. To that extent, Jimmy was a giver, always making sure that those around him were well taken care of before taking care of himself. He was an avid Red Sox fan, loved his dogs and possessed a quick wit and great sense of humor.
Jimmy will be missed tremendously by all those who had the privilege to know him and love him.
He was the devoted and proud father of Christopher Warrener and Sean Warrener (Gabriella Gonzalez); brother of Mark Warrener (wife, Jeannine) and the late Michael Warrener and Paul Warrener. He was the son-in-law of John Rodway and his wife, Mary Harrington-Rodway and the brother-in-law of Susanne Warrener. Jimmy is also survived by his nephews Justin Warrener (wife, Katrina), Andrew Warrener (fiancée, Victoria Georgia), Aidan Warrener and Cameron Warrener.
His funeral will be held at 8:30am on Monday, October 28, 2024, in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Interment with full Military Honors will immediately follow in RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, October 27 from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via jimmyfund.org/gift will be greatly appreciated. To honor Jimmy, the family has requested that guests wear their favorite shade of blue to the services.
