NASHVILLE – James Manfred Weaver, age 69, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024. Born in Wayne County, NC on December 1, 1954, he was the son of the late Clarence Weaver, Sr. and Dorothy Johnston Weaver. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Weaver, Jr.
James was a tobacco farmer for over 20 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, he went to work for Rosehill Farms where he maintained the grounds for another 20 years. He liked riding horses and 4-wheeling in his younger years. James enjoyed being outside keeping his yard beautiful, "piddling" in his shop, going fishing, and a good steak on the grill. Watching his old westerns on television was a treat for him. James loved his grandkids, Andy and Maggie. They were truly the apples of his eye!
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy King Weaver; his son, Jason Alan Weaver; his daughter, Jamie Weaver Mincey and husband, John; his grandchildren, Andy Mincey and Maggie Mincey; his brother, Ronnie Weaver and wife, Sheila; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service to celebrate James' life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Toby Easley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in James' memory to Corinth Baptist Church, 2883 N. NC 58 Hwy., Nashville, NC 27856.
