James Cecil Wilson

James Cecil Wilson (Jim) of Pensacola, Florida passed away on August 2, 2025 at the age of 96. Jim was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on April 9, 1929 to Daniel and Kate Wilson. He joined the Air Force in 1948 and then met and married his wife, Helen Cosson Wilson, in 1952. Jim was proud to serve and represent the United States in the US Air Force, which took him and Helen around the world and USA, until he retired after 20 years. They settled in Pensacola, Florida where they would remain raising four rambunctious boys! James Gregory (Greg), John Michael (Mike), David Cecil and Paul Alan kept them busy. After retiring from the Air Force, Jim went to work for the City of Pensacola as a housing inspector and worked there for another 30 years. Jim loved sports and coached many of the boys' ball teams. He also umpired for decades which he loved. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and he loved his church, Hillcrest Baptist where he was a member since 1969. Jim was a follower of Christ and is now a resident of heaven worshipping at the feet of Jesus. After his beloved Helen passed away, Jim later remarried to Norma Wilson, and they were married until Norma's passing in 2019 after 11 years of marriage. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Kate Wilson; brother, Mandelith Wilson; wife, Helen Cosson Wilson; sons, David Cecil Wilson, and John Michael Wilson; and his second wife, Norma Wilson. Jim is survived by his sons, James Gregory Wilson and Paul Alan (Michelle) Wilson; grandchildren, Savannah Wilson (Jacob) Payne, Nicholas Wilson, Elijah Wilson, Michaela Wilson Diaz, Jeremiah Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Harper Payne and Travis, Jaycob and Abriella Diaz. He is also survived by many of Helen's family who he claimed as his own family. Pallbearers for Jim's going home service will be Nicholas Wilson, Elijah Wilson, Jacob Payne, Jerry Cosson, Preston Cosson and Doug Cosson. Honorary pallbearers are members of his treasured Sunday School class the King's Men. Family visitation is Thursday from 10:30 -11:30, public visitation is from 11:30 to 12:30 and the service begins at 12:30 all at Hillcrest Baptist church. There will be no graveside service.
