James Workman Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 12, 2024.
James passed away peacefully in his home with his children and daughter-in-law by his side on Monday. He was raised on a farm in Mebane, NC and graduated from Mebane High School. James went into the US Air Force right out of high school where he became a Radio Operator on a C-119 "Flying Box Car". He was stationed in France and travelled the world, going to all 50 states and many different countries. He met and married his love, Jane, in 1961. In 1972, he moved his family to Tallahassee, FL. He worked for Mobile Home Industries before deciding to open his own business, Jim's Wall Covering.
James was well known to many as Jim, Jimmy, Jim Bo, and PawPaw. Children always gathered around him because he loved playing with them. He was a proud PawPaw to five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was a generous, kind, and hardworking man. James loved the outdoors, enjoyed reading the Bible, yard work, gardening, swimming, and watching & teaching the children to swim. He also loved traveling, having family & friends over, and dancing to country music.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Jane Workman, mother; Olie Workman, father; Charlie Workman, brothers; Ernest & Robert Workman and sisters; Mae Workman, Virginia Edwards, Lois Pope, Julia Allred, and Josephine Bumgarner.
James is survived by his son; James Daniel Workman Jr. (Lisa) of Florida, daughter; Lora Jane Polisson (Ed) of Indiana, sisters; Gloria Dodson (Freddie) of Florida, Linda Stanley of NC, grandchildren; Edward W. Polisson Jr. (Mandee) of Indiana, Kelsea S. Baldwin (Trenton) of Kansas, James D. Workman III (Misti) of Florida, Richard O. Polisson (Brittany) of Indiana, US Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Dustin M. Workman (Hannah) of Washington, and great grandchildren; Davee E. Polisson, Aubree J. Polisson, Jaydee N. Baldwin, Maverick R. Polisson, James (Jamey) D. Workman IV, W. Wyatt Polisson & Trenton (Trey) R. Baldwin, and many nieces & nephews.
Although James will be missed by many, we find peace knowing he has been reunited with his wife in heaven. We know that our two angels are watching over us.
