James H. Wright, 73, of Erie, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026. He was born in Erie on August 7, 1952 a son of the late Floyd J. and Charlotte A. Smith Wright.

Jim graduated from Academy High School in 1971 and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a sheet metal worker at McShane Welding Company and Amsco until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of Lamb of God Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed outdoor sports. He could be found fishing for trout in any one of North Western Pennsylvania's beautiful streams or fishing for Walleye on Lake Erie heading out from Walnut Creek Marina. Jim also loved baseball. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Guardians and was a former Erie Boys Baseball Coach.

Survivors include his son, Matthew Wright (Colleen); his daughter, Stephanie Wright (Todd Manges); three grandchildren, EmmaRose Wright and Luke and Jacob Manges; one sister Sheila Brainard (David) and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one brother, Michael Wright, and one sister, Pattie Wright Kuhn (Edward) and one niece Kimberly Spinks.

During the last years of Jim's life, he was welcomed into the Pennsylvania Solder's and Sailors Home (PSSH) in Erie, PA. The dedicated and caring staff at PSSH gave him a new lease on life.

Funeral services and inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
