In 1988, she graduated from Bowling Green State University and received her teaching certificate. Jamie taught Language Arts and Citizenship at Napoleon Middle School for twenty-two years. She was a champion for the students who needed a little extra support, whether in the classroom or with needs outside of school. She poured her heart into the Drama program at NMS, as well as the Ophelia Project - a team mentoring program for at-risk middle school girls. Jamie's passion was to empower her students to go after their dreams.

She enjoyed being a part of the Garden Club where she shared her love of flowers. She was a proud Buckeye alumnus throughout her life and was involved with the Ohio State Alumni Association. She and Gary took many trips with their fellow Buckeye Alumni.
Due to her Polycystic Kidney Disease, she received the gift of life by way of a liver and kidney transplant in 2013. She was proud to participate in the Transplant Olympic Games in 2016 and was a strong advocate for organ donation.
The family would like to thank all those family members, friends and neighbors who supported them during Jamie's journey through dementia, especially MaKayla Ervin and MacKenzie Harman for their compassionate and loving care during the last year of her battle with dementia.
