Jamie George

Jamie George, 68, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2026. Born on February 11, 1958, Jamie lived a life full of laughter, loyalty, stubborn opinions, and deep love for his family.

Jamie was the son of the late Helen Ridley George, whose strength and values helped shape the man everyone knew - tough on the outside, soft at heart, and always willing to show up for the people he loved.

For 46 years, Jamie was the devoted husband of Teri George, affectionately known to him as "Frid." Together they built a marriage filled with humor, patience, and plenty of stories that only the two of them fully understood. Jamie may have had a hard shell, but anyone who knew him knew Frid held the key to the soft interior.

Jamie took tremendous pride in his work as a flooring contractor. He believed in doing a job right the first time and leaving things better than he found them - a philosophy he applied not only to his work but to life itself.

Outside of work, Jamie enjoyed golf, fishing, watching college football, cheering on softball games, and starting every morning the same way: with a cup of strong black coffee and, whenever possible, a visit to Waffle House. He loved music too - especially singing along enthusiastically, if not always accurately.

His greatest role, however, was being Dad and PopPop. Jamie was endlessly proud of his children and never missed an opportunity to support them. Whether it was encouragement, advice, or simply going along with one of the family's many "crazy ideas" with a smile, he was always there. His love for his granddaughter brought him particular joy and plenty of reasons to brag.

Jamie is survived by his loving wife, Teri George; children, Judith Miller and Zane George; granddaughter, Cora Jane Miller; brother, Jerry (Bertha) George; sister, Linda (Marlin) Lumpkin; parents-in-law, Tommy and Joyce Friddell; sisters-in-law, Toni (David) Jordan and Tena Friddell (Greg Hardin); along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cherished friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Ridley George; siblings, Donnie and Diane; and niece, Cindy Bell.

Jamie will be remembered as easygoing, dependable, and quietly sentimental - a man who loved deeply, argued passionately, laughed often, and never turned down good company or a hot cup of coffee. He will be greatly missed… including his arguments.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
