Jamie Lynn Orcutt died August 11, 2025, at Marshfield Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Kermit and Florence Goertz. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1965. She received a National Merit Scholarship and attended college at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, graduating with a degree in English. Her entire career was spent at the Wausau Daily Herald, where she was a columnist and worked her way up to an editor. She was most proud of the special feature magazine she created every month.

Outside of work, Jamie applied her creativity to multiple areas. She was a skilled seamstress and tailor. She knitted her entire life. She also acquired great skill in weaving and jewelry making. She was a lifelong reader of a wide variety of genres.

Due to her marriage to Rob, she became an avid fan of the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. Throughout her life, she enjoyed the unconditional love of her 4 special dogs.

Jamie is survived by the love of her life, Rob; her twin brothers, Jon (Bonnie) and Pete (Susan Hardt); nephews, Kyle (Sarah Orange) and Mitchell (Tiffany); as well as sister-in-law, Linda Orcutt. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband's parents, Robert and Wanda Orcutt.

There will be a private, family service at a later date. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marathon County Humane Society.

Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Weston is assisting Jamie's family with arrangements. Condolences may be shared at www.ascendweston.org.
