Leaf Cremation of Georgia - AcworthJamie Lind Smith Owens was born on July 13, 1962, a day after her family had moved into their new home in Marietta, GA. She was the third of three girls born to Wendel and Doris Smith.
Jamie attended Marietta City Schools, and then spent a year at Berry College in Rome, GA before meeting the love of her life and soulmate, Mark.
During their marriage, Jamie and Mark had four children, attended Bethany College of Missions in Minnesota, and then later led churches in Jennings, FL and Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada before moving back to Georgia in 2004.
Jamie and Mark were active in several churches locally, and her servant spirit transferred to everyone she met. She inspired many young people to follow Christ, and she was always the one to take a meal or a pot of soup to someone in need, never waiting for the, “What can I do for you?” to serve.
She loved her family deeply and loved to travel to the best out of the way places. She loved the quirky, vintage and abandoned place where history abounds. She was a fabulous cook and baker, and loved to teach others with her gifts. She had a fabulous sense of humor as well.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 40 years, Mark Fraser Owens; children, Cameron (Grace), Chelsea (Mike), Corey (Sarah), and Chris (Laura); grandchildren, Anya and Luke; sisters, Heidi Lowe and Laurie King and many bonus children who came into their lives.
She was very deeply loved her family and friends, and her passing leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We know that she is with the Lord now, and has been made whole again. We know that we will be with her again.
Jamie’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mount Nebo Methodist Church, 3685 Nebo Road, Dallas, GA 30157.
