Jamie “Colleen” Stephens, 91, of New Castle went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Addison Place of New Castle. She was born October 26, 1933 in Albany, Kentucky to the late James Ellis and Beulah (Gibson) Thurman-Cross.
In her earlier years, she had worked at Firestone, Bud Ayres Market and drove the N.O.W. Bus for the City of New Castle. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and was always caring for others. Colleen enjoyed watching sports, including the Pacers, Colts and Kentucky Basketball. She had a strong faith and attended Grand Ave. Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Talmadge (Teresa) Stephens, Terry (Cynthia) Stephens; four grandchildren, Amy (Mark) Morrow, Jarod Stephens, Ryan (Diana) Stephens, Emily (Dustin) McDaniel of New Castle; great grandchildren, Landree Morrow (Dillon Busby), Landen Morrow, Hannah Stephens, Conor McDaniel, Eleanor Stephens, Benjamin Stephens; siblings, Odean (Wanda) Thurman, Sue (Jack) Stockton, Betty (Gale) Wiles, Larry “Mike” Thurman; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leo D. Stephens and a brother, Jim Thurman.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Charles Dugger officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share a memory of Colleen at www.hinsey-brown.com.
