Myra Maxine Chissel, 93, of New Castle passed away Monday, March 9, 2026 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born March 7, 1933 in Henry County to Richard and Myrtle (Smith) Malott.
Myra was employed at several factories in the area including RCA in Indianapolis for 20 years. She retired at the age of 79. Her most beloved hobby was raising and training horses. Myra's horses were entered in many horse shows, winning numerous awards over the years. Myra was the primary caregiver of her family, whom she loved spending time with.
Those left to cherish Myra's memory are her daughter, Pamela Sexton of New Castle; son, Ralph Chissell of New Castle; grandchildren, Faith Ferrell, Rick Alderson, Troy Carter, Adam Chissell, Danny Sexton and Walter Chissell; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Gerald (Pat) Malott of New Castle and Gail (Butch) Privett of New Castle, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, Myra was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Chissel; a sister, Mona (Russell) Currnett and an infant brother; daughter, Janice Carter; sons, Michael and John Chissell; grandson's, Jeremy Chissell and Joshua Reuter; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Rose; daughter-in-law, Charolette Gay.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Children's Hospital, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202 You may express condolences or share memories of Myra at www.hinsey-brown.com.
