Jamon (“Jamie”) Charles Capps, 69, of Seminole, OK passed away at home on October 12, 2025.
Jamie was born to Patricia Capps on March 2, 1956 with beautiful green eyes, curly golden hair and a gentle spirit. From early on, Jamie showed interest in the “how” of things, building skills and expertise over time until he was a master at many things. Fisherman, gardener, mechanic, chef, and beyond, he spent his years honing his crafts and those around him benefitted from such skills. Jamie always sought the peace and purpose that could be found outdoors and loved nothing more than casting a line, breaking a sweat in the garden or keeping life going in old cars.
In his heyday you could find him and his signature curly golden locks skiing Wewoka Lake, catching catfish at Lake Eufaula, racing cars down Broadway, and even breaking animals free at the local animal shelter. He had a soft spot for animals, and stray cats always found their way to a home with him. Before moving back to Seminole, he lived a significant amount of time in Edmond, OK. There he married, had a daughter and founded a successful moving company which he named after his daughter (“Caitlan Trucking Inc.”). He spent years teaching his daughter how to appreciate getting dirt under her fingernails, be it digging up worms for bait, planting and tending vegetable gardens, picking berries for homemade pie, or a few failed attempts at teaching her how to change a tire.
He spent his last years amusing his friends and family with great stories from his many adventures and enjoying new stories of the adventures of his young grandsons. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, but we take great comfort in grace and the knowledge that he was a Christian man who believed in God and the promise of Heaven.
Jamie is survived by his daughter Caitlan (James), two grandsons (Benjamin and Samuel), three siblings Frank (Nancy), Cynthia and Phyllis, nephew Justin (Kaylee), an aunt, Frances and a host of cousins and friends who loved him.
He is predeceased by his beloved grandmother (Fannie Cornett) and grandfather Luther, his mother Patricia, as well as his uncles and aunt (Luther Jr., Charles and Marion).
Please join us as we gather for a graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery, 1000 W. Strother, Seminole, Oklahoma on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1 PM to honor Jamie’s life and impact on our lives.
