With heavy hearts, the family of Jan Lutsic, 86, of Johnson City, announces her peaceful passing on September 28, 2025.

Whether you called her Jan, Mom, or Non, to know her was to be welcomed and loved – warmly, without hesitation. Her love was unwavering and unconditional, she loved you for exactly who you were. With her sparkling blue eyes and trademark hair, Jan made any house a home, becoming its very heartbeat as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She took pride in making her home a gathering place for laughter, comfort, storied parties, and a lifetime of precious memories. Her spirit will echo in every family gathering, every warm smile and hug, every cheeky wink, and every howling wind.

Jan enjoyed annual Daytona Beach vacations with family and friends; exploring and photographing wildlife while visiting the Rocky Mountains with her husband Dave; and relaxing weekends at the cottage. Jan had equal joy in raising many Shiloh Shepherds, each one nurtured with the same unparalleled gentleness and love.

The lessons Jan taught were quiet but inspiring: Family, by blood or invitation, is everything. Keep confidences in the vault. Love trumps pain. Be the best friend you can be, no matter what you get in return. Love freely and unconditionally. You can never have too many dogs.

Jan is predeceased by her first husband Richard Dino Sr., her parents Eleanor and John Stephens, her husband of 56 years Dave Lutsic, and her son-in-law Brian Matuszak. Jan is survived by daughter Davi-Lin Matuszak, son Dick Dino (Jenna), daughter Dana Pasquale (Lenny), daughter Dani Testani (Rick). She had incredible pride and love for grandchildren Zach Matuszak, Marika Somich (Frank), Livia Matuszak, Jaiden Dino, Cade Dino, and Sami Testani.

A special thank you to the amazing members of her care teams at both Willow Point and UHS. You touched her life, quickly became loved ones, and meant the world to her in such a short time. You know who you are.

The family will hold visiting hours at Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main Street, Johnson City, NY on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4–7pm. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jan and Dave's name to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760. https://mercyhousesoutherntier.com/donate.html
