Ronald Pierre McKan II

March 21, 1975 – September 15, 2025

Binghamton, NY

Ronald Pierre McKan II passed away on September 15, 2025. He was 50 years old.

Ron was a man of deep compassion, endless energy, and unforgettable presence. His smile lit up every room he walked into. His spirit was contagious. Ron was a proud native of Binghamton and treasured the community he lived in. If you knew Ron, you were his friend. Ron was so many things to so many people throughout his life. He was a coach, teacher, principal, mentor, DJ, son, father, husband, and friend. In every role, he brought kindness, humor, wisdom, and unwavering generosity. If you needed something, Ron was there, no questions asked, just support. Of all the roles he played, his most proud title was Dad. He loves his children more than he could ever express in words or actions. Olivia, Mason, Pierce, and Cameron are his everything. All he ever wanted was to be their Dad, to protect, honor, and provide for them in any way he could.

Ron lived with purpose and passion. Whether he was riding his 4-wheeler or motorcycle, shooting hoops in countless basketball leagues, playing flag football on Sundays, or casting a line with his kids, he approached life with joy and intensity. He found peace at the gym, expression in music, from blending mix tapes to his beloved album collection, you could always expect "Big Ron Stud" to give you something to dance to. He loved customizing his cars and motorcycles and just when you think he'd be done…he'd modify again. He had a deep love for animals, especially unique dogs few others had. His love for his most recent mastiff, Rigz (aka The Notorious R.I.G) was unmatched.

He gave his heart and soul to his family, to his community, and especially to the young people he positively impacted in his daily life. He was a devoted father of four, a proud uncle to three amazing kids, and a mentor to so many more. He was an only child and just recently reminded his mother, "you are my everything". He lit up every room he entered, DJ'd countless fundraisers, and never missed a chance to support others in need. One of his greatest passions was planning the annual Mase Madness Tournament, in honor of his beloved son Mason. There was a light inside of him during those tournaments that reflected a love so strong for his first-born son. He was never prouder than when he'd see those gymnasiums filled with so much energy and love.

Ron is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Kate McKan; his children Olivia, Pierce, and Cameron; his mother Eileen McKan; his godmother JoAnn Amedeo; cousins who are truly, more like siblings, his father and mother-in-law Jon and Mary Yeager; sister/brother-in-law Suzie and Jurell Spivey; nieces and nephews Aydric, Jonathan, and Makenna. He also leaves behind his two loyal dogs, Remy and Rigz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald P. McKan, John Fancher (Papa John), and his precious son, Mason Pierre McKan. That was a reunion in Heaven that was surely filled with love.

Ron's legacy is one of service, joy, strength, and heart. He will be deeply missed, but his impact will be felt for generations to come. As his son Pierce said, "let's not cry because he left, let's smile because he was here".

Please join us to celebrate Ron's life and his journey back to Mason. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 2-4pm and a service will follow at Calvary's Love 1315 Reynolds Rd. Johnson City, NY. You are welcome to join us on "Mt. Mason" at the very top of the mountain at Vestal Hills on Old Vestal Road, Saturday 9/20/25 at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution account has been set up at Visions Federal Credit Union to assist with Ron's children's future education costs.
