Jan

Georgeanna (Jan) Helen Teehan, 89 of St. Augustine, Florida left us peacefully on Tuesday, September 30. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jan will always be remembered for devotion to family, her fierce patriotism, and love for animals; especially dogs and horses. Born on December 7, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland, Jan grew up as an only child to George and Ora Addison. Her father, after serving proudly in the Navy during WWII, moved the family to Green Cove Springs and soon after, St. Augustine, where Jan attended St. Joseph Academy. She later relocated to Jacksonville, where she, in addition to raising three boys, worked assisting ophthalmologists, including surgically, at a local eye clinic. Moving back to St. Augustine in 1968, Jan was employed as a secretary by Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church. She ended her working career employed by the state of Florida in the Department of Children and Families. She also volunteered in various roles at St. Augustine Navy League including Historian, Secretary, photographer and United States Marine Corps liaison. Roles she cherished. She remained in St. Augustine until recently, when she was placed in a Jacksonville senior care facility for dementia and Alzheimer patients. Jan is survived by her three sons, Daniel Apel, Timothy Apel, and Andrew Apel, as well as her grandchildren, Robert (Rob) Apel, Mark Apel, Eve Eighmey, Andrew (Drew) Apel, Mariachiara Apel, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Teehan, and her grandson Timothy (Tim) Apel II. A service to celebrate Jan's life will be held on October 11, 2025, 11 AM at the St. Johns Family Funeral Home. All are welcome.
