Stephen (Steve) Dale McAloon

June 11, 1960 – September 2025

Stephen "Steve" Dale McAloon, 65, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully at home

in September 2025.

Born on June 11, 1960, at Travis Air Force Base, Steve grew up with a deep appreciation for

family, community, and laughter. He attended St. Joseph Academy and later studied at Jones

College.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Frances White Parke and Major Joseph Owen

McAloon, and his sister, Roberta Parke McAloon Zizka. He is survived by his three beloved

daughters, who were the pride and joy of his life: Kyla Pince (Nick) of Poway, CA, Chelsea

McAloon Flessner (Michael) of Blacksburg, VA, and Caitlin McAloon (Dustin Bryant) of Lenoir,

TN. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren-Westin and Grady Pince and Davidson

and Everett Flessner-who brought him immeasurable happiness.

Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Robert Owen McAloon of St. Augustine, FL and

beloved nieces and nephew- Erin McAloon, Rachel McAloon Day, Robert "Lee" McAloon, Blair

McAloon Ransone, Frances McAloon Pickering and Abigail McAloon. He will be deeply missed

by his faithful companion, and best friend- his dog Maggie, who held a special place in his heart.

Steve was a man of many talents and passions. His career began as a radio DJ, where his love

for music shone brightly. He later worked at Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center in

Chattanooga, TN where he was in his element, working outdoors and surrounded by nature.

Upon his return to St. Augustine in the late 90's, Steve continued with dedicated service to the

St. John's County tax collectors office, where he was loved by coworkers and customers alike,

until his retirement in Spring 2025.

Known for his magnetic personality, quick wit, and wealth of knowledge, he filled every room

with laughter and conversation. He shared his eclectic taste in music with everyone he met, and

never missed a chance to rewatch his favorite show, M.A.S.H. (as long as the Gators weren't

playing). Steve will be remembered for the joy he took in collecting unique treasures and in

gifting them to those he loved.

In remembrance of Steve, donations may be made to "The Maggie Fund" to help provide

emergency care for pets when there is a financial barrier. Antigua Veterinary Practice 195 San
