Jan Prevost

Jan Prevost, age 81 of Cloquet, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, after battling pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 25th, 1942, to John and Dorothy (Shovein) Lightfoot in Cloquet. She was united in marriage to Thomas Prevost on September 26th, 1964. Throughout the years, Jan worked for 1st National Bank, North American Cable Company, Schafters Jewelry and Johnson Company. She also served as guardian ad-litem, on the Board of Directors for Pine Ridge Care Center, and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
In her spare time, she loved to create hand-stamped greeting cards and crafts and do jigsaw puzzles. Jan also loved being outdoors and spent time camping, hunting, four wheeling, and bird watching with her family. Above all, Jan will be remembered for her role as a mother and grandmother. Not only to her own children, but to the many others who affectionately called her mom "Ma" Prevost. You immediately felt the love and care she radiated and ultimately became a member of her extended family.
Jan is survived by her husband, Tom; sons, Troy (Amanda Stygar) Prevost and Shane (ShawnMarie) Prevost; grandchildren, Morgan Pearson and Ryland Prevost, Drake, Makena, Kasten, and Kailei Prevost; siblings, Cathy Hubbart, Mary Jean Ingbretson, Ken (Bonnie) Swanson, Linda (Michael) Kelly, and Connie (Brad) Wick; and multiple beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Starkey and Carol Larson.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a ceremony at 1:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used by the family to support causes important to Jan, such as Essentia Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer Research, and Research and Support for Autism. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care.
