Jane Belt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell on Dec. 27, 2025.
Jane Case Belt, born July 8, 1947, in Mansfield, Ohio, passed away surrounded by love and the legacy of a life well lived. She was the daughter of Betty and Harry Case, both of whom preceded her in death.

Jane grew up in Kenton, Ohio, where she developed a strong work ethic and lifelong friendships. She earned her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and later completed her master's degree in Arizona. She played competitive golf in college.

Jane devoted her professional life to nursing, a career that reflected her compassion, leadership, and dedication to caring for others. She served in many roles, including Director of Nursing for nursing homes and as a consultant, earning the respect of colleagues and improving the lives of countless patients and staff throughout her career.

She is survived by her son, Bryan; his wife, Caren; and her three beloved grandchildren, Nate, Nick, and Lauren, who were the light of her life. Jane is also survived by her brother, Bob and her bonus grandchildren, Gabrielle, Tony, Joey, Lexie, Sam and Syd.

Jane had a deep love for animals, her family, and the game of golf. An excellent golfer, she could often be found on the course at OSU, enjoying the game she loved so much. When she wasn't golfing, she was enthusiastically cheering on her grandkids at their sporting events-or sharing laughs and Fireball shots with friends and family.

Jane will be remembered for her sharp wit, generous heart, competitive spirit, and unwavering love for those closest to her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and traditions she leaves behind.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235 with Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Jane had a huge heart and was always giving to charities so in lieu of flowers, please, send donations to

Nationwide Children's Hospital, a local dog shelter or a charity of your choice.

What a loss for the OSU golf community. My husband first introduced me to Jane as he had tremendous respect for her as they knew each other through their work in Senior Living. Then I played with her on the inter-league golf competitions´ team and shared a few laughs and cocktails along the way. I will miss seeing that twinkle in her eye when we´d get to joking about some silly, semi-serious topic. I think she did things "her way," (apologies to Frank Sinatra) and my husband and send our deepest sympathies to her family. If I weren´t having a colonoscopy on the very day of her mass, I would be there.

I will miss playing golf with my dear friend that women was one of the best chippers and putters that I ever played with. She was also so generous and giving to everyone she met in so many ways. Oh, how she loved her grandchildren as I do, we shared so many wonderful stories. She will be missed.
