Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Jane Blinka died peacefully in the company of her sons John and Tom, and granddaughter Rachel, on January 28, 2024. Jane was 97.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband Joe Blinka, and brother George ("Sonny") Luebering. She is survived by siblings Jack Luebering and Joyce Augustus (spouse Jack Augustus), sons John and Tom Blinka, daughter-in-law Marcela Blinka, granddaughters Sarah Blinka, Rachel Webken (spouse Cody Webken), Abby Blinka, Tatiana Marshall (spouse Ian Gordon), Cecilia Broerman (spouse Joe Broerman), grandsons Andrew and Joseph Blinka, great-grandsons Nate Broerman and Charlie Webken, and great-granddaughters Grace and Lily Broerman, and Ada Marshall Gordon.
Jane was born in Cincinnati on November 21, 1926, and spent her early years variously in Detroit MI, Paterson NJ, and Charleston WV before returning to Cincinnati to matriculate at the University of Cincinnati. Here she married and raised a family.
Jane was many things during her long life - a biochemical researcher (Google "Rapoport- Luebering shunt" - she was the "Luebering"), a Mom, a "foodie", a devout and inquisitive Roman Catholic, an avid figure skater, and an early morning jogger well into her late 70s. Although her physical strength ebbed in her last years, Jane kept her impish sense of humor and keen interest in world affairs - "solving the world's problems" was a feature of afternoon visits with her. We all miss her.
