Jane Cane Obituary

Age 91, passed away peacefully in Buffalo, NY, on December 18, 2025. Jane was born in Buffalo, NY, to Thomas L. Fitzsimmons Sr. and Beatrice Carolan. She is remembered fondly as a loving mother to Edward (Janet) Maida Jr., Joanne (John) Giamberdino, Anthony Maida, and Janet Maida. She was a caring sister to Thomas Leo Fitzsimmons Jr., and cherished grandmother to Stephen Giamberdino, John Mark (Jennifer) Giamberdino, Paul Maida, Faith (Joshua) Bastian, and Natalie (Jeremy Wassel) Maida. She also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren Elizabeth Giamberdino, Vera Bastian and Mabel Bastian. She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She earned her bachelor's degree in Medical Technology at D'Youville College. She then went on to become the operations manager at CMX and MedPath Laboratories, at one time becoming president of the local Medical Technology Association. At work, she was a beloved supervisor to many and leaves behind a legacy of phlebotomists who trained under her. Throughout her life, aside from her love of work, Jane was an enthusiastic Buffalonian who encouraged her children to explore the city and everything it had to offer. Services were held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or a membership may be purchased to the Buffalo Zoo to honor Jane's memory. I am sorry to hear about Jane's passing. My sincerest sympathy to all her family. Jane was a dear dear friend. From teaching Religion at Coronation to serving the poor at the Sister Mary Josette Food Pantry (Villa Maria College), she was always at my side. We worked so well together and I enjoyed every minute of the time spent. I will remember her in my prayers forever. Rest in Peace Dear Friend . . . Love and Prayers always, Frank
