Mary “Jane” Goodwin Culpepper, 87, of Beaufort, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City.
Jane lived on Austin Road for nearly 70 years, and the relationships formed there defined her life. She was a faithful neighbor, friend, mother, counselor, and whatever anyone needed her to be. There was always an open door, food on the table, and no one needed an invitation.
Mrs. Culpepper retired from the Beaufort Elementary School Cafeteria, where she served with dedication and care. Her care for the students left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She enjoyed sharing laughs with her colleagues and was always willing to help any child who needed support. She truly loved working there.
A lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Beaufort, Mrs. Culpepper was deeply rooted in her faith and community. Her enduring commitment to the church reflected her steadfast spirit and devotion throughout her life.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Beaufort. Burial will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens in Beaufort. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the church.

Culpepper Jr. and wife, Wendi of Centerville, OH; three grandchildren, Abigail Culpepper of Providence, RI; Grace Culpepper of Miamisburg, OH; Joshua Culpepper of Centerville, OH; sister, Barbara McKay of North Port, FL; two brothers, Stephen Goodwin and wife, Margaret of Beaufort; Rodney Goodwin and wife, Annette of Beaufort.
