Jane Foxworth Deaton, an Alabama native and metro-Atlanta resident for nearly 65 years, passed away peacefully on December 7th after a long, courageous battle with colon cancer in the comfort of her Cumming Georgia home. She had recently celebrated her 83rd birthday. There was joy in heaven that day, as Jane was reunited with her beautiful granddaughter Mary Catherine Gibson as well as countless relatives and friends.
Jane was born to parents Robert Lehmon Foxworth and Leilla Mae Foxworth of Florala, Alabama on November 24, 1939. She married Emory A. Deaton, Jr. in Atlanta, Georgia on March 5, 1960 and they proudly raised three children Jan Gibson, David Deaton, and Amy Spires in the Dunwoody, Georgia community.
Jane had a passion for gardening and yard work, interior decorating, tennis, playing bridge, international travel, reading, crocheting, socializing with her friends and family, and spending time at her beach house. She had a beautiful yard and an incredibly green thumb. She crocheted the most beautiful and coziest blankets for her family members and grandbabies! Jane was a loving wife, mother, and was voted to be the “best grandma ever”!
Those who had the privilege to know Jane and spend time with her know that she was a kind, outgoing, free spirited, adventurous, intelligent and outspoken woman. Her laughter was contagious and her smile would light up a room. Jane never passed up the opportunity to adventure with her sister and brother-in-law, Lanette and Dale Pupp.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lehmon Foxworth and Leilla Mae Foxworth, sister Mildred Schuler, and granddaughter Mary Catherine Gibson. She will be sorely missed and survived by her husband Emory A. Deaton, Jr. children Jan Gibson, David (Lynne) Deaton, Amy (Bob) Spires, along with grandchildren Emma Deaton and Jane Claire Spires.
