Jane Ellen Disher, age 78 of Sharonville, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024. Loving wife of Alan R. Disher. Devoted mother of Matt (Claudine) Disher and Robin (Ken) Noll.
Grandmother of Michael, Maggie, Maria, and Matthew Disher, Molly (Steve) Santos, Sophia and Emery Noll. Great-Grandmother of Joseph Disher, Kaleb, Austin, Gabriel, and Maverick Santos. Beloved Aunt of Lisa Hauke, Angie Hawk, Sondi Ryersee and Sally Dungan. Loved by dear cousin Connie Farrell and dear brother-in-law Gary Schmidthorst. Preceded in death by her sister Joann Richardson, brother-in-law Bob Richardson and sister Susan Schmidthorst.
Jane Ellen Disher was born February 11, 1946, to her late parents Bruce and Jessie Thompson.
Spending her childhood alternating between Ohio and Florida where Bruce's work took the family, Jane discovered one of her greatest joys the beach. Throughout her life, visiting the beach became a required pilgrimage at least once a year. It was indeed her "church". She religiously woke up to watch every sunrise, walked the beach, hunted for shells, and just sat silently, taking in the beauty that she captured later in life and shared on social media with her beloved friends. If you knew Jane for even a short amount of time, doubtless you got to enjoy a sunrise photo!
Jane met her husband and love of her life, Alan, at Princeton High School. She attended Ohio State University for one year, then married Alan and moved to Colorado Springs for 2 years while Alan was in the Army. After moving back to Cincinnati, they moved into a house in Sharonville across the street from the elementary school that would become her place of work for 25 years. There Jane was the office clerk, lunch lady, and teachers' aide. She took great pride in her work at the school and had a natural nurturing personality that benefited the children and everyone around her. It was there that Jane met many friends who would remain in her life till her death. She was the steward of their beautiful Maple Street home that was a welcoming oasis of friendship and love for all who visited there.
As Jane and Alan raised their family, Jane was always involved in the Sharonville community, making friendships and ties wherever she went. She retired from the public school system in 2002, ushering in the part of her life that allowed her to dedicate her time to her other two passions being the best grandma on earth, and gardening. She had a playhouse built in her yard after moving to the house on Cornell Road that was enjoyed for years by her grandchildren and countless others. She cultivated a garden that was sprawling, always in bloom, and waiting to offer her a cut bouquet that she would take to a friend, relative, neighbor, or anyone lucky enough to receive her kind and constant generosity. In addition to those sunrise pictures, likely you witnessed the
beauty and abundance of her garden, and her grandchildren as they grew up, in photos she delighted in sharing with everyone.
Jane spent her final years watching her grandchildren become the wonderful adults that she taught and modeled them to be, and traveling with her beloved husband Alan. She battled cancer (lymphoma) for 6 years, her zest for life and will to live seeing her through many challenging times.
Jane spent every minute of her life cultivating friendships in her garden of loved ones here on Earth. She watered them with kindness, love, and compassion. We can all think that such a kind and selfless soul was taken from us too soon, but when the time comes for our Creator to harvest the fruit from His Tree of Life, who are we to complain?

Jane was an integral part of Sharonville Elementary School when I began my career there. She was so helpful and truly wanted you to be successful. She loved the students and they loved her. Praying for her family to be filled with God´s peace and may beautiful memories fill your hearts.

Jane and her family were a staple of my childhood. Always a calm loving and welcoming person, Jane was truly special. She cultivated her Nanyang gifts with love, passion, compassion and understanding. Our hearts go out to the Disher family during this this time and as we celebrate her beautiful life.

Truly one of the nicest women you'd ever meet. Met her through Sharonville Elementary school and it's after school care.
God bless her and give peace to her beloved family.

Jane loved to share her knowledge of Florida, Flowers, Food and Family!
She had many great memories and stories of her earliest visits to FL with her family and also was one of the first ready to go on an adventure I loved this Spirit that she shared with us all. You´ll be missed Jane.
This photo was taken with niece Lisa on the dedication of a bench donated to the Barrier Island Sanctuary in Melbourne Beach in honor of her sister Susan who had passed. Family near or far were never far from her thoughts
