Juanita Disher Obituary

Juanita Mae Masten Disher

Nov 10, 1930 - Dec 1, 2025

Juanita Mae Masten Disher (95) entered into the more immediate presence of our Lord on December 1, 2025. Born November 10, 1930, in Forsyth County to Harvey Birch and Jennie Spaugh Masten. Mrs. Disher graduated from Sedge Garden School, Draughons Business College, and studied voice and organ at Salem College. She first worked for a law firm facilitating Wake Forest University's move to Winston-Salem and then at Western Electric, where she met and married Roy Sidney Disher. They were a perfect match for over 50 years until his passing in 2007. She lovingly cared for her family as a homemaker providing delicious family meals and entertaining friends. She decorated her home with her beautiful needlework and handicrafts.

An eighth-generation Moravian, Mrs. Disher celebrated her love for Christ through music, with over 85 years in choirs, including Moramus Chorale, Great Sabbath Choir, and Gregor BellChor. She was a pianist/organist for many years playing weddings, funerals, and other church services. Her physical therapist encouraged her to play the piano as strength-building exercises and she continued playing into her last weeks.

Mrs. Disher was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Sidney Disher; son, Richard Sidney Disher; three brothers; sister-in-laws; and two precious nephews.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennie Ann Disher and daughter-in-law, Sandra Burge Disher; grandchildren, Matthew Wilson (Catherine), Elizabeth Wilson, Meredith Wilson, and Andrew Wilson (Leslie); great-grandchildren, Lucas Wilson, Jaxon Wilson, Austin Wilson, Jordan Wilson, Rykker Wilson, Mikayla Wilson, Gabriel Cobb, Elizabeth and Henry Lawrence.

A graveside service in God's Acre will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Life at Home Moravian Church at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Home Moravian Church Music Ministry in Juanita's name at 529 S. Church St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Condolences may be shared online at www.salemfh.com.

Mrs. Disher, Juanita, was such a beautiful lady inside and out. She was kind and giving of her many talents. I first met her through my parents at Home Moravian and they thought the world of Sid and Juanita. I too thought of her as a special friend. She will be missed and our deepest sympathy to the family.

I have fond memories of Mrs. Disher growing up at Immanuel Moravian. She was friends with my parents and aunt and uncle. She was always kind and showed an interest in me as a child. I have thought of her often over the years. My prayers are with her family at this time. I know you have some wonderful memories of this sweet lady bring you comfort in the days ahead.
