Obituary of Jane Helen Doherty
Jane Helen Stanton Doherty, 80, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024 at ShorePoint Health after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was married to Michael Charles Doherty with whom she celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past April 23rd.
Born in Revere, MA, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. Stanton and Marguerite Stanton. She graduated from Revere High School with the class of 1962, volunteered her time to various causes and her children's activities, and worked at the IRS in Andover, MA. Before moving to Florida in April 2006, Jane and Michael raised their five children in Tewksbury, MA.
Jane took immense joy in spending time with her family, adoring her grandchildren, and proudly sharing stories about each of her children. She cherished a day at the beach with friends and family, delighted in cruises, took long walks along the ocean, avidly followed her favorite sports teams, and loved laughing with her husband. She had a warm smile, beautiful big blue eyes, and a story to share that endeared her to everyone who met her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Sean Doherty and his wife, Alesha of Portola Hills, CA, Michael Doherty and his wife Tracy of Northborough, MA; three daughters, Kelly Doherty of Lake Forest, CA, Kerry Doherty of Laguna Beach, CA, and Kathleen Doherty of Charlestown, MA; two sisters, Carolyn Callahan and her husband, Daniel of Woburn, and Susan Keskula and her husband, Richard of Tewksbury, MA; two sister-in-laws Marilyn Stanton of Westford, MA and Sarah Levitt of Largo, FL; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Doherty, Braeden Doherty, Kyle Doherty and Monica Doherty; and many nieces and nephews. Jane's predeceased family members include her sister Julie Stanton and brother Robert Stanton.
