Jane Farrell Obituary
Jane grew up in Winchester, MA. She was graduated from the Boston College School of Nursing and, after marrying John she moved to Maryland, and enjoyed an almost fifty-year career in Montgomery County as a community, hospital, and school nurse. While she always felt the pull of New England and its mountains and seashores, she made a wonderful life in Maryland. She was a bright light to the many friends she touched; warm, helpful, thoughtful, concerned about the comfort and wellbeing of others, always smiling and cheerful. She was also a great hostess who enjoyed throwing parties and being with family and friends. She and John were fortunate to spend many happy years together, enjoying each other as they spent time outdoors and traveling. She was a woman who lived her faith in a quiet fashion as was evidenced by the good acts done to and for others.
The family will receive friends between 4:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. Monday, August 18th, 2025, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 19th at 11:00a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 9201 Green Valley Rd., Union Bridge, MD 21791. Interment will follow the Mass at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jane's name to either Frederick Health Hospice at https://www.frederickhealthhospice.org/donate-support/ or to the Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership (SHIP) of Frederick County, at https://shipfrederick.com/donor-dashboard/donor-society-2/ or to a charity of your choice.
