Jane Garcia Obituary

At the age of 98, Jane Yllescas (Ellasces) Garcia passed peacefully on Nov. 10 with her loving family by her side. The second youngest of 6 girls and 1 boy, Jane was born to Juan and Maria Yllescas in a little house on Ed Uhl's ranch in the outskirts of Vacaville. Juan and Maria immigrated from Aldeire, Granada, Spain in 1921with their 4 youngest children. Jane lived her entire life in Vacaville and graduated from Vacaville High School in 1943. After graduation, Jane worked at the downtown Vacaville Creamery and Bus Depot, now the current site of Heritage House Caf‚, and then worked at Solano Grocery, now the current site of Merchant and Main Grill and Bar. It was at Solano Grocery where Jane met her future husband, Ed Garcia, after his return from WWII. Ed was the butcher, Jane the "butcherett" and checker. They fell in love, married in 1950 and had a son, Larry and daughter Terri. After marriage, Jane was a stay-at-home wife and mother, loved her family beyond words, and she was always there for them. She had an exceptionally strong love of family and nothing made her happier than being with them. When Larry and Terri got a little older, Jane worked summers with her sisters at Richard Nola's dehydrator and fruit packing company. She was energetic, fun-loving, and always up for whatever came her way. She enjoyed working in her yard, watching her daily soap operas, visiting with her sisters everyday and loved anything purple. Jane was athletic and active all her life. She played basketball in high school, enjoyed bowling, loved watching sports, and exercised, walked and practiced yoga until the age of 93. Jane and Ed both loved bowling and bowled together most of their married life in mixed leagues and separately, travelling through California to compete in state tournaments. Jane never missed a volleyball or basketball game of her 2 granddaughters and followed them as far as Aruba to offer support and cheer. In Jane's 70s, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting the Hawaiian Islands despite her lifelong fear of flying. After that first flight, she was eager to continue her family travels including trips to Spain, Canada, Aruba, and various cruises. Sadly, Jane leaves behind her son Larry (Sande), daughter Terri, granddaughters Fearon DeWeese (Chris), Melissa Muzio (Tony), great grandchildren Ellamay DeWeese, Macie and Vinny Muzio, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane is now reunited with her loving husband Ed, sisters Constance Rodriguez (John), Antoinette Perez (Tony), Ann Silva (Jack), Mary Castano (Albert), Carmen Campos (John), brother John Ellasces (Jeannie), nephews John Jr. (Butch) and Keith Ellasces, along with her parents Juan and Maria Yllescas.Jane lived a wonderfully long and happy life and leaves us with sweet memories.Mom, your love will always be with us.Services honoring her life will be held at McCune Garden Chapel, Friday, Nov. 17 at 1:00 pm.
