JANE CHRISTENSEN HILDEBRAND

June 24, 1932 – December 7, 2025

Jane Christensen Hildebrand, age 93, of Ocean Beach CA, passed away on December 7, 2025 after suffering for many years with Parkinsons disease. She was born to John and Florence (Andersen) Christensen on June 24, 1932 in Selma, CA.

Jane grew up in Selma and graduated from Selma High School in 1950. She received an AA degree from Reedley College and then received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from University of California at San Francisco.

Jane married Verne Hildebrand in 1954 and raised four daughters. After divorce, Jane lived in Ocean Beach with partner Harry Bruggeman for 30 years. Jane and her daughter Karen published a book about family history and then gathered relatives for several family reunions.

She loved working as "Nurse Jane" at Sequoia Lake YMCA camp during the summers from 1971-1983. She earned her School Nurse Credential from San Diego State University and then worked as a School Nurse for San Diego Unified School District from 1980-1995.

Jane loved living in Ocean Beach in her condo on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. In retirement, she and Harry enjoyed their local restaurants and visits from family. They were also able to travel to several destinations for School Nurse reunions, Elderhostels, and for pleasure, including some ocean cruises with family.

Jane was preceded in death by her long-term loving partner, Harry Bruggeman and her brother Peter Christensen. Jane is survived by her daughter Karen Atkinson and husband Joe Luttrell of Lone Pine CA, daughter Gail Torosian of Houston TX, daughter Myra Callen and husband Walter Callen of San Diego CA, daughter Ellen Hildebrand of San Diego CA, as well as grandchildren Megan Callen, Heather Callen and Coby Herroon.

A memorial service will be held on Monday December 22nd at Page Funeral Chapel, 2014 Arrants Street in Selma, CA at 11:00 am. Following the memorial, there will be a graveside service at the Floral Memorial Cemetery, 2430 Floral Avenue, Selma, CA at 1:30 pm.
