Jane M. Hill

A Celebration of Life for Jane Marie Hill (nee Mateja), of Palatine, will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067.

Jane passed away peacefully on July 14th, 2025. Jane was born on June 4th, 1933.

Her parents Frank and Angeline Mateja raised Jane and her brother Ronnie in Chicago, Illinois. She was a Chicago girl to the core, always making time to watch her beloved Cubs. After being a lifelong fan for over 80 years, she loved watching them win the World Series in 2016.

She, along with her husband Royce and family, operated Hillits Interiors (draperies and furniture) on Northwest Highway in Palatine. She led the team in the workroom making the drapes. Jane was the matriarch of her family. She was a devout Catholic and served as a eucharistic minister and usher at Holy Family Parish in Inverness, Illinois.

However, the role that she valued the most was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother. Jane leaves behind a special legacy that deeply touched all those who came to know her.

We are also thankful for her unconditional love. We find comfort in knowing that she will joyfully rest in heaven.

She was the loving mother of the late Roger Hill (Rose Marie), Pamela Davis (Thayer), the late Janet Hill, and Duane Hill (Donna).

Loving grandmother to Andrea Jane Miskewicz (Kevin), Katlyn Ann Alqas (Bene), Krystle Rose Hill, Blake Edward Hill, Jacob Benjamin Hill and Nathan Michael Hill.

Loving great grandmother to Noah William Boyd, Dylan Mary Miskewicz, Emerson Charlotte Miskewicz and Aurora Jane Alqas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Royce, son Roger, and daughter Janet.

Eternal rest grant unto Jane, oh lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all souls of the faithful departed, through the tender mercy of God, rest in peace.
