Jane Louise Joens, daughter of Donald and Doris (Wedeking) Cother, was born on April 22, 1947, in Estherville, Iowa. She was raised in Estherville and Pasadena, California and later moved back to the area where she dedicated her life to caring for others as a home health aide.

Jane made her home in Iowa for much of her life and was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. She had a deep love for her family and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially tending to her flowers and trees. Her kind and nurturing spirit touched many, both within her family and the community she served.

On September 6, 2025, Jane passed away with her daughter, Tammy, granddaughter, Crystal and a close friend by her side at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. She was seventy-eight years of age.

She is survived by her three children, April Jordan (Bill), Tom Weltzin (Patti) and Tammy Bastman; ten siblings, Don, Rick, Rita, Ken, Mike Loren, Dean, Bill, Roger and Terry; thirteen grandchildren, and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Weltzin; her favorite son-in-law, David Bastman; one brother, Tom; sisters-in-law; and many other loved ones who welcomed her home.
