Jane Francis Lajewski, 84, of Okemos, MI, peacefully passed away on October 21, 2025, surrounded by her son, Andrew and daughter-in-law, Meredith.
Jane was born August 21, 1941 to Joseph Lajewski and Florence (Kersplio) Lajewski in Flint, MI. Jane graduated from St. John Vianney Catholic School in 1959. After graduation, Jane worked in the cafeteria at Mc Laren Flint, while attending Mott Community College. In 1960, Jane started as a switchboard operator for Michigan Bell Telephone. She would continue to become a floor supervisor at Bell until 1974. After the birth of her son, Andrew, in 1975, she was hired at Luke M. Powers Catholic High School as Head of the Religion Resource Department. Over the years at Powers her role would grow to also become a Library Clerk, and the Head of the AV Department until her retirement in 2004.
She lived a life of faith and service; as a devout member of the Catholic Church. She also volunteered at Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Tall Pine Council BSA; and Gloria Co-op.
Jane had many interests. She was an avid reader, loved musicals, and movies. She enjoyed crafting of all kinds. Jane was a passionate sports fan, especially for football and basketball. She loved playing cards, bingo and board games. Jane enjoyed talking with family and friends whenever she could.
Jane is survived by her son, Andrew, and daughter-in-law Meredith (Burlingame) Lajewski. Brother Joseph (Connie) Lajewski; niece Kimberly (Brian Scieszka) Cross, nephew Joseph (Tammy) Lajewski, niece Staci (Bill) Pawluk; and many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and second-cousins. “Aunt Jane” was also beloved by many other family members, friends, neighbors, caregivers and faith community.
Funeral Mass service to take place at St. Martha’s Catholic Church, 1100 W. Grand River Ave., Okemos, MI on November 29, 2025 at 11:00am. Visitation will precede the mass at 10:00am and reception will take place after mass at St. Martha’s.
