Dr. Jane Ellen Metzger Marks, PhD, was a young 77 year old, living in her adopted city of Virginia Beach for the last twenty-seven years. Our Lord called her to heaven on September 6th, 2024. She was a 'history buff' and had a passion to travel the world and relive history. Jane, along with her husband, had traveled to 115 countries. Both are members of the Travelers' Century Club.
At All Saints Episcopal Church she created 'Movie Ministry,' a monthly movie event enjoyed for many years. Jane was also a cinephile and had a deep love for the cinema, especially movies from the twenties, thirties and forties. When she wasn't traveling the world and didn't have a book in her hand (which was rare,) she could be found with her family and friends enjoying a movie at home or on the big screen. She loved judging movies for two International film festivals, and student films at Regent Universities Film Department. Jane was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Virginia Beach where she enjoyed philanthropic work for the children of the world, and giving PowerPoint presentations about her travels. She especially enjoyed delivering Thanksgiving and Christmas meals every year to challenged families.
She loved writing and was a reporter for the 'Westwood Insider Weekly Newspaper' where she wrote articles on Infertility and other local subjects in the Los Angeles area. She was published in the Edgar Cayce ARE 'Venture Inward Magazine' and at All Saints Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach with articles on Movie Ministry. Jane also loved to write fiction and non-fiction.
Some of her many interests and hobbies were cinema, profiling, grief counseling, infertility, adoption, individual growth counseling, food and world history. She also had a working knowledge of French. Jane enjoyed reading about all categories of counseling, philosophy, religion, show-biz, history, travel and a detective novel once in a while. She was also a Porsche Enthusiast and enjoyed astronomy. Nothing excited her more than a new Idea. Jane will be missed by everyone.
- We love her so much. -
