Jane Terjesen McLaughlin, age 78, of Wenatchee, Washington, passed away on November 14, 2025. She was born on June 27, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Ruth Alice (Pedersen) and Irving Bernhard Terjesen.
She graduated from Coventry High School in 1965 where she a member of the cheerleading and synchronized swimming teams. She graduated from Ohio State University with her Bachelors in Education in 1969 where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
After graduating college, she moved to Seattle, Washington, for three years. Jane then lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for three years where she worked as a secretary at Harvard Law School. She returned to Washington state where she spent the rest of her life. First, she lived outside Seattle where she volunteered with a senior center, preschools, and a charity shop. She then moved to the small town of Winthrop where she started a bed-and-breakfast called "Out-Of-It Inn" and lived for twenty years. She also volunteered at the nearby Methow Valley Senior Center in Twisp. For the last seven years, she lived at Bonaventure in East Wenatchee and then at Avamere in West Wenatchee.
Jane successfully lived with epilepsy since childhood, leading a very full life. Her favorite hobbies include reading books, hiking, running, taking care of animals, and fighting for animal rights. She enjoyed vacations across the United States and all around the world including Australia, the Bahamas, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Fiji, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Tahiti, Thailand, United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe.
Jane is survived by her brother Barry Terjesen; niece Siri (Per) Terjesen of Boca Raton, Florida; nephew Erik (Val) Terjesen of San Diego, California; five grand-nieces and nephews: Cole and Sylvia Terjesen, and Tor, Britt, and Finn Terjesen Amundson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Irv Terjesen, sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Gene McKenna, and sister-in-law Nancy Conn Terjesen.
In Washington state, funeral services will be held at Avamere. A funeral service in Ohio will be arranged by the family in the future.
