Jane Phillips Mercaldi

Jane Phillips (Thompson) Mercaldi, age 99, of Concord, creative, spirited, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died to this life and entered her heavenly home on September 30, 2025. She is once again at the side of her husband with whom she led a lifetime of loving service in her family, church, and community.

She was a 1943 graduate of Beverly High School and a 1945 graduate of the Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston.

Jane was born in Beverly, where she grew up and met her husband, William Burrows Mercaldi. She worked faithfully by his side, touching the lives of countless people through the gifting of her expert needlework and the fruits of her kitchen. She led numerous craft activities for children in scouting and in the church, helping them make things they could be proud of. She freely shared from her flower gardens to make get-well bouquets and church arrangements for Sunday services. She was dedicated to her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and served Him diligently throughout her life.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, William; parents, George and Abby (Trask) Thompson; sisters Helen (Thompson) Gentlee Morehouse and Faith Thompson; and brothers George Thompson, Jr. and Roger Thompson.

Jane is survived by her children, Martha (Mercaldi) and Christopher Kaiser of Kalamazoo, MI; David and Maria (Lucherini) Mercaldi of Miami, FL; Cynthia (Mercaldi) and James Van Duren of East Lansing, NY; and Anne (Mercaldi) and Alexander Cambon of Silver Spring, MD; 10 grandchildren and their families; including 20 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to gather for Jane's funeral service on Friday, October 3rd at 1:00 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Burial will immediately follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane's memory may be made to Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 191 Sudbury Road, Concord, MA 01742.
