Jane Ilah Allison Nevels, 81, of Auburn, Alabama entered her heavenly home on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 8:56 a.m. after gracefully enduring the challenges of dementia. She was born on September 16, 1944, to Julia Faye Wynn and Joe "Duck" Avery Allison, and grew up in Paint Rock, a place she cherished her entire life. Jane's life was a beautiful reflection of her deep love for family, faith, and community. She was a devoted mother to three children: Allison Ann Nevels Autrey (Pat), James Larry "Jim" Nevels IV (Stacey), and Joseph Lance Nevels. She was the proud grandmother of Allie Nevels Gee (Alex), Avery Nevels (Madeleine), Ella Faythe Autrey, and Max Autrey, and the great-grandmother to Neely Jane Gee, who carries her name. Jane also dearly loved her many nieces and nephews, each of whom she cherished, prayed for faithfully. A woman of strong faith, Jane loved Jesus with her whole heart and lived that love out loud. She shared the gospel on many mission trips, joyfully serving others wherever the Lord led her. Jane's talents were abundant and beautifully unique. She was an accomplished seamstress, lovingly sewing clothes for her children and their lovely home. From many pageant dresses to their curtains, she could do it all! Later in life, her natural gift for decorating and her eye for beauty bloomed into a calling. She poured that passion into her beloved shop, Mary and Martha's Gifts and Accessories, where she delighted in creating warm, welcoming spaces for others. Her devotion to Paint Rock ran deep. After renovating her childhood home, Jane returned there to live, serve, and even lead-as mayor of her hometown. She was passionate about politics and committed to her community, always giving of herself to make a difference. Above all, Jane will be remembered for her sweet spirit and contagious laugh-the sweet, unforgettable sound that brought joy to everyone who knew her. She cherished the simple things: her flowers, her black coffee, and the company of those she loved most. Her legacy of faith, family, prayer, and joy lives on in all who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Respite For All, a community response for dementia, at www.respiteforall.org. A Celebration of Life will be held at Scottsboro First Baptist Church on Sunday, October 5, 2025 beginning at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Burial will follow in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements Entrusted to Scottsboro Funeral Home.
