Jane A. Raleigh, age 84 of Owosso, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at The Meadows in Owosso. A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 520 West Main Street, Owosso, MI 48867. Leslie Charles will officiate. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Elmwood Cemetery, New Lothrop. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Jane was born on November 19, 1938, to Cletus and Margaret (Murphy) Birchmeier in Maple Grove Township. She married William (Bryan) Raleigh on July 16, 1960, in Maple Grove Township.
Jane had several careers during her lifetime. She was a licensed cosmetologist in her early years. Later in life she and her husband Bryan owned and operated the Red Lantern in Perry. Jane loved being with her family and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She liked traveling with friends to Gulf Shores, Las Vegas and annual trips to Shipshewana with her sister Nancy and Aunt Mae.
Jane is survived by her children, Tonya (Michael) Smith, Julie Porter, Dan (Susan) Raleigh, and Pamela Rancour; her grandchildren, Scott (Jillian) Rancour, Jason (Jackie) Rancour, Bryan (Laine) Raleigh, Jacob Raleigh, Hayley (Christian) Ragsdale, Lindsey (Ben) Janzen, and Zachary Smith, her great-grandchildren Tyler, Abbey, Max, Harper, Luke, Lola, Freya and Elijah, sister-in-law, Betty Birchmeier, and special niece, Kelly Chmelar, as well as other loving family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Bryan, sisters Nancy Raleigh and Mildred Carroll, brother Richard Birchmeier, and son-in-law, Andrew Porter.
