Jane M. Reeder, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home. Born on December 29, 1934, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Guy B. and Mildred B. (Heverly) Lucas. On September 11, 1954, in Bellefonte, she married Robert J. Reeder, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2013.
Jane attended Bellefonte Area Schools and was of the Catholic faith. She worked in housekeeping at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College for more than 30 years before retiring.
Jane was an avid bingo player-if she heard of a game anywhere, she would be there. She loved not only the game itself but also the conversations and friendships that came with it. She was affectionately known as the "Candy Lady," always keeping a bag of candy tucked into her purse to share wherever she went. Jane was a good cook, though she also happily enjoyed meals prepared by others.
Above all else, Jane cherished her family. She was blessed with a large family, including many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved to spoil with hugs and kisses. Family meant everything to her, and she will be remembered as a devoted mother, gram, sister, and friend.
Jane is survived by her seven children: Robert J. Reeder, Jr. and his wife, Katie, of Bellefonte; William M. Reeder and his wife, Linda, of Bellefonte; Barbara J. Plessinger and her husband, James, of York; Bonnie M. Kline and her husband, Albert, of Bellefonte; Betty M. Simco and her husband, Thomas, of
Naples, FL; Beth A. Reeder of Bellefonte; and Beatrice J. Jabco and her husband, Chris, of Bellefonte. She is also survived by one brother, Larry Lucas of Pleasant Gap; a half-brother, Steve Lucas of Lewisburg; two sisters, Evelyn Emel (Tom) of Bellefonte and Cynthia Spicer (Ronald) of Centre Hall; and one stepsister, Ann Trostle of Altoona.
In addition, Jane is survived by 20 grandchildren, more than 30 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by five brothers, Merril, George, Fern, Rodney, and Doug Lucas; two stepbrothers, Charles and Paul Shuey; one half-brother, Tim Lucas; and two sisters, Patricia Reeder and Beverly Reese.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg. A funeral service will follow at noon, with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. Burial will be private at Eagle Cemetery in Boggs Township.
