Born on November 18, 1954, in Hibbing, Minnesota, Jane was a 1973 graduate of Hibbing High School. In 1974, she married her soulmate, Eric W. Rule. They made their home in Cary, North Carolina, where Jane went on to build a dedicated career spanning 27 years with Carolina Power & Light.
Jane had a deep love for the outdoors. In her younger days, she enjoyed riding horses and duck hunting with Eric and their dogs. Those who knew Jane remember her as kind and sweet yet undeniably stubborn-a combination that made her both endearing and strong-willed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric (2010), and her parents, Myrtle and John Purkat. She is survived by her siblings: Randy (Denny) Belluzzo, Susan (Robin) Wilson, and Rob (Marlene Rapovich) Purkat; her partner of 10 years, Larry Lemmerman; her best friend, Heidi Cranford; and her beloved labradoodle, Sampson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.
Jane's presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date.
