Jane was born September 26, 1936, in Ulysses, Nebraska, to Frank Joseph and Irene Ann (Mazanec) Kobza. She grew up in rural Ulysses and received her education at Dwight Assumption, graduating in 1953.
She married Carroll (Joe) Schrier on October 26, 1957, in Dwight, Nebraska. While living in Lincoln, Jane worked at Russel Stover Candies for five years and Bryan Memorial Hospital as a nurses aide for four years. The family moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, in 1971. Jane then worked for Plant Island as a greenhouse associate for 21 years, retiring in 1999.
Jane was an avid gardener, loved reading, puzzles, and camping. Most of all, she loved to spoil her grandchildren, later her great grandchildren. Jane was a founding member of Resurrection Catholic Church and its altar society.
She also enjoyed canning and cooking and the massive production of decorated Christmas sugar cookies, a trait passed along to many.
There is no place like Nebraska to Jane, a faithful and vocal supporter of the Cornhuskers, especially the football and volleyball teams.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Steve) Steinbrink of Omaha, NE; Jerry (Suzanne) Schrier of Sioux Falls, SD; John (Lori) Schrier of Grand Island, NE; and Laurie (John) Shultz of Doniphan, NE; grandsons Randy (Melissa) Witt, Mitch (Sarah) Schrier, Nick (Amanda) Steinbrink, Stephen (Karin) Viereck, Kalvin (Cassie) Lonowski, and Tony Lonowski; granddaughters Madeline (Ryan) Goh, Abby (Jack) Henry, Kimberley (Chad) Palmer, Julia (Jake) Smulkowski, Kathleen Viereck and CJ Avande; 29 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Connie (Frank) Zidko of Spencer, NE and Marcye Blatney of Todd, NC, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, brother Ben, brother Frank and wife Lonnie, brother Joe and wife Donna, and sister Betty, as well as grandson Joseph Viereck and great grandson Jaxson Viereck.
Memorials are encouraged to Resurrection Catholic Church and Grand Island Central Catholic.
