Jane Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Catasauqua on Feb. 9, 2026.
Jane Marie Benner Smith, 58, of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 2, 2026.Born in Allentown and formerly of Bethlehem, Jane was the daughter of Patricia B. (Roth) Benner.

She was a 1985 graduate of Catasauqua High School, where she played field hockey.

Jane will be remembered for her adventurous spirit and ambedo-her appreciation for the ephemeral and magical moments in Life. She loved wave jumping at the beach, sharing sunsets, and cruising country roads with the radio turned up loud. She found joy in laying out in the sun, caring for her plants, and cutting the grass. She danced, wore her sunglasses faithfully, and moved through life with a rare combination of spontaneity and conviction. Her closest companion, Riley, was never far from her side. She loved taking her for walks on the IRT and visiting their favorite tree. Jane believed in kindness, making the mundane a good time, and speaking up-even when it was difficult. She taught her children to question the status quo, live authentically, fall in love with nature, make potato soup, and to care deeply. Her memory lives on in the vibrancy of every sunflower field and in the soft glow of each fingernail moon.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia B. (Roth) Benner; her daughter, Karissa J. Smith; her son, Kore V. Smith; her grandson, Louis V. Smith; her brothers, Tom Benner and Larry Benner and his wife, Sandy; and her sister, Susan "Sue" DeLeon, and her husband, Lucian.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Online memories and condolences for the family may be shared at www.brubakerfuneralhome.com. Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua is entrusted with the arrangements.
