Brian Gruber Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schmoyer Funeral Home on Feb. 4, 2026.
Brian P. Gruber, 74, of Breinigsville, a man of faith and integrity, went to see his Lord on Sunday February 1, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. He was the husband of Hilary (Ruch) Gruber with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Born in Allentown he was the son of the late Ralph and Betty (Masiko) Gruber.

Brian was a graduate of Catasauqua High School, Kutztown University (Secondary Education Math) and Bloomsburg University (business administration and accounting). He was employed for a majority of his career with the PA Department of Public Welfare, retiring as the business manager of the former Hamburg Center.

Brian was known for being an excellent self-taught cook and baker, sharing his results with others. He loved to travel, attend concerts, reading a good book and his cats. Brian loved to also go to the beach and hike in God's great world. Brian was a member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church where he served God and others in many ways including being an usher, singing with the choir, lighting for drama/ children's plays and of course making and serving food for various events.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his son Logan and his wife Maryna Brodovska of Delaware; sisters Cheryl Murphy of Northampton and Cathy Malaves, wife of Albert of Puerto Rico. Brian will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bruce Gruber.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S Cedar Crest Blvd, Allentown, PA 18103. A calling hour will begin at 9:30 AM.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Brian's memory to Cedar Crest BFC Deacon's Benevolence Fund, Rescue Mission or The Sanctuary of Haafsville c/o Schmoyer Funeral Home, PO Box 190 Breinigsville, PA 18031.

Hilary and Logan , Mary and I are saddened to hear of Brian´s passing yet we are glad his suffering is over ,he is in the comfort of our Savior. I always liked our time together in our Parents Group when out of nowhere Brian´s soft voice would add to the conversation, sometimes thought provoking and sometimes funny than he would smile and laugh with us. He was a quite man with a wit greatly appreciated.,he threw those zingers at the right moment. He will be missed but we will see him again.

Dear Hilary & family, We were so saddened to learn of Brian´s passing. Our thoughts immediately went to the times we shared at church in adult Sunday school and in the choir. His broad smile always provided the warmest of greetings. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Logan and all the family. May God´s loving care for you bring comfort at this difficult time, Donna & John Colabroy
